The Tiyya Foundation is a non-profit organization started by a mother daughter team. They help refugees find furniture, housing and other necessities. Owliya Dima and her daughter Meymuna Hussein-Cattan came to the U.S. in 1984 after fleeing Ethiopia and living in Somalia refugee camps. They had to start a new life and learn to navigate America. Their organization’s purpose is to help other refugees adjust to living in America. The Tiyya Foundation has helped over 1000 families.
