Building a Brand: The 10 Commandments of Steve Jobs

As the 3rd year of TBTNews has been very professionally rewarding and personally satisfying, I’m looking at other successful admirers of mine who’ve used innovation and creativity to create transforming mechanisms. From cell technology titan like Steve Jobs, to hip hop icon Russell Simmons, or to computer guru Bill Gates, these phenomenal individuals have impact my life in more ways and I’ve progress from following their business philosophies.
First, it’s ironic, each man’s last name ends with an (s). And each of the men in mention have publicly discussed their game plans for success. But the one that I continue to emulate daily is Jobs’ 10 Commandments of Innovation. Here are five of Jobs’ commandments to build a brand.
  • Go For Perfection: Jobs sweats the details. The night before the first iPod launched, the Apple staff stayed up all night replacing headphone jacks because Jobs didn’t think they were “clicky” enough.
  • Tap The Experts: Jobs hired world renown architects to design the iPod logo before the opening retail stores.
  • Be Ruthless: Jobs is so proud that he’s killed more products than he’s released. He work on the Palm Pilot clone, only to stop production when he realized cell phones would surpass PDA’s, which brought about the iPod.
  • Shun Focus Groups: Jobs famously said, “People don’t know what they want until you show it to them.” So he acts as a one-man focus groups for his prototypes, testing them for months.
  • Never Stop Studying: When designing early brochures for Apple, Steve pored over Sony’s use of fonts, layout, and the weight of the paper. Working on the carry case for the first Mac, Jobs wandered around Apple’s parking lot studying the bodywork of German and Italian cars and their interior.
Steve Jobs, the eyes and mind of a genious, who literally transformed the way each
person globally communicates professionally
and leisurely

The hard face of a man who build a street empire from the streets. Today, Russell Simmons is responsible for commercializing hip hop culture, that has become a multi-billion dollar industry
Bill Gates was so powerfully dominant in the personal computer space
that the government broke-up Microsoft because it had become a monopoly
More that anything else, Jobs’ genius is in his managing the creative process. This is key to how America will present the next generation of innovative leaders and how they’ll progress in terms of building wealth, power and respect for the intellectual process and their capabilities to create growth.
Simmons erected a musical and entertainment conglomerate and Gates transformed the way 85% of personal computers. These three men has seen their influence duplicated repeatedly over the last 30 years or so.
But Jobs is the modern day pioneer and his creations have simplified the lives of over 75% of consumers of his products. Even after his death, his brain has been preserved for research and his diary of notes and sketches are been analyzed by scientists and intellects to understand ‘what he saw, how he saw it, and why he saw it,’ way ahead of everyone else? Peace and One Love.

    1. Hi Glenn,

      Read paragraph two.

“First, it’s ironic, each man’s last name ends with an (s). And each of the men in mention have publicly discussed their game plans for success. But the one that I continue to emulate daily is Jobs’ 10 Commandments of Innovation. Here are five of Jobs’ commandments to build a brand.”

The writer says that he is sharing 5 of Steve Jobs’ 10 Commandments.

  1. Great advice. Especially the one about never stop studying. This is a fast paced moving market. It requires constant study to stay on top of the latest SEO and webmaster techniques. Not to mention all of the new developer tools and mobile apps available nowadays. It’s exciting and at the same time a lot of work.
